Partner with INHERIT

Law firms and estate planning professionals providing legal credibility for INHERIT in their jurisdiction.

Why we open-sourced INHERIT

You don’t need to be technical#

A jurisdiction partner is a legal or estate planning firm that reviews INHERIT’s jurisdiction extension for accuracy. You confirm that the fields, tax thresholds, and legal concepts match real-world practice in your jurisdiction.

Time commitment: approximately 2–4 hours per quarterly review.

What you receive:

  • Steering committee seat (one representative per jurisdiction)
  • Listed on openinherit.org as the jurisdiction’s legal credibility partner
  • Input on how the standard evolves in your jurisdiction
  • Early access to new features and extensions

What you provide:

  • Confirmation that the extension’s fields map to real legal instruments
  • Feedback on tax thresholds, form requirements, and court procedures
  • A professional perspective that software developers cannot provide

We are seeking one firm per jurisdiction. See the extensions table to check if your jurisdiction is covered.

How you can partner with us

INHERIT serves different communities in different ways. Choose the partnership type that fits your organisation — or reach out and we'll figure it out together.

Succession Law Partners

“Whether your expertise is state succession law or faith-based inheritance rules”

A probate solicitor and an Islamic scholar are both succession law experts, just in different traditions. We need help with intestacy distribution, forced heirship, will formalities, court processes, and religious succession rules — across all 21 jurisdictions INHERIT supports. You contribute legal knowledge; we handle the schema engineering. No technical skills needed.

Tax Treatment Partners

“Help us get the tax calculations right”

Tax advisers, accountants, wealth planners, and cross-border tax specialists — most of our extensions have outline-level tax coverage. We need help with inheritance tax thresholds, reliefs, exemptions, and double taxation treaties. Check the extensions page to see which jurisdictions need your expertise most.

Institutional Endorsers

“Observer → Endorser → Contributor”

Law societies, regulatory bodies, professional associations, and academic institutions can endorse the standard at whatever level of involvement suits them. Start as an observer, deepen engagement over time.
