How INHERIT 6.6.0 is governed — who maintains it, and what its licence guarantees.
INHERIT 6.6.0 is maintained by Testate Technologies Ltd, with Richard Davies as Founding Steward.
What this means#
- Apache 2.0 licence — free to use, free to implement, and irrevocable. 6.6.0 will always be available with no licence fees.
- Complete — 6.6.0 takes no further changes. What is published is what there is.
- Yours to fork — the published licence lets anyone take 6.6.0 in their own direction, without asking and without a fee. That protection does not depend on Testate Technologies.
- Later generations are proprietary — INHERIT after 6.6.0 is proprietary to Testate Technologies and is not published. It carries no commitments, and it does not affect 6.6.0’s licence, which cannot be withdrawn.
