openinherit.org is operated by Testate Technologies Ltd (“TT”), the steward of the INHERIT open estate data standard. The standard is published under the Apache 2.0 licence.

2. Use of the Standard#

The INHERIT standard — including all schemas, reference data, examples, and documentation — is free to use, modify, and distribute under the Apache 2.0 Licence ↗ . There are no licensing fees, registration requirements, or restrictions on commercial use.

INHERIT is a data format. This website, including its schemas, case studies, jurisdiction extensions, validator, and AI-powered Guide, does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice.

  • Case studies are fictional and illustrative. All organisations are invented.
  • Jurisdiction extensions describe data structures, not legal requirements.
  • Validator results confirm JSON Schema conformance only — not legal accuracy or suitability.
  • The AI Guide provides information about INHERIT’s capabilities — not professional advice.
