What you can do with Settld + INHERIT

Export from Settld

Proposed: export an INHERIT document from your estate platform to Settld's future Bereavement API. The deceased's details, death verification, asset references, and organisation references would trigger notifications to all relevant service providers automatically.

This means you can:
  • Notify banks, insurers, utilities, and pension providers in one step
  • Eliminate dozens of individual phone calls, letters, and forms
  • Provide structured death verification that service providers can process automatically
  • Create an auditable record of every notification sent and its status

Imagine this

A family member registers a death. The executor’s estate platform — whether it’s Clio, Actionstep, or a consumer tool — exports an INHERIT document containing the deceased’s details, the death certificate reference, and a list of organisations that need to be notified. Settld’s Bereavement API consumes this document and dispatches structured notifications to every bank, insurer, utility company, and pension provider the deceased held accounts with. 1,400+ service providers, notified simultaneously, with machine-readable data they can process automatically.

Today, bereaved families make an average of 20-30 individual phone calls. There is no open data standard for bereavement notifications anywhere in the world. INHERIT and Settld together could change that — turning weeks of administrative burden into a single, dignified process.
